I find happiness doing DIY projects but to be honest, I don’t have enough tools nor the luxury of time to do it as often as I did back when I was single. Motherhood, homemaking and wifey duties can really take your time. So whenever I get the chance to do an easy DIY project, I take it. Over Holy Week, I had the chance to set up a simple Tea-time for my in-laws. While they were busy swimming downstairs at our condo’s pool, I was busy preparing. Eeeep! To my horror I didn’t have anything worth serving to make my tea time authentic. So the mother in me decided to get creative and settled for what’s in our pantry. If you’re reading this and you’re expecting scones, pastries and tons of yummy cakes and teas, sorry to disappoint heehee. Don’t worry, as soon as I’ve mastered baking I’ll do an upgraded tea time and share it here too!
It’s all about the details don’t you agree?
No pastries, cakes, scones and other baked goodies? No problem! Use store bought cookies, crackers, bread toasts and even put chocolates in between for that added touch of sweetness.
Don’t know what your guests want? Why not create a DIY canapés buffet by serving different spreads so that guests can do it themselves? Unlimited combinations and possibilities are just as enticing as ready made ones. 🙂
For the kids and kids at heart (that’s me!) add more choices and options by serving different snacks such as bread sticks, cereals, cookie bites, and more. Don’t forget to serve them in these cute cupcake cups so its easy for the kids to take it home with them should they not finish it in one sitting.
Drink your iced tea, juice or lemon water in this cute jar glass and match it with paper straws (all from Paper Chic). Definitely a cute way to beat the summer heat!
Tea time wouldn’t be complete without the star of the show- teas! Offer a variety of tea flavors so your guests can pick out what they like.
There you go! Simple, easy no fuss tea time!
Happy Hump Day!
