Sharing with you some photos from my baby shower when I was pregnant with Gabbie. It was an intimate gathering of family & friends. Thankful that my mom is an excellent cook and that they opened their house and threw a baby shower in honor of my first pregnancy.
I’ll also be sharing some tips on how you can plan a baby shower either for yourself, for a sister or for a friend or colleague. In my case, I organized and planned my own baby shower. More details as to why as you read along.
Tip #1 IT ALL STARTS WITH A BUDGET.
Set a budget for food, venue (better if no need to pay for a venue), decoration and giveaway/prizes. Usually the computation for this is 80% for food, 10 % for giveaway/prizes and 10% for decoration/venue.
My mom did an amazing job setting up a buffet table.
Super thankful and lucky that my mom is an excellent cook, her food is delicious and can pass like that of restaurants. No, I’m not being bias and my friends can really attest to this.
Tip #2 CHOOSE A THEME.
Although it is not mandatory, having a theme can help you put things together making the whole gathering cohesive. In this case, I didn’t want anything naman as long as pinks & purples were there. As for the decor, I have my mom & sisters to thank for, they prepped and filled the house with pink & purple balloons!
Tip #3 DO DIY.
There are tons of printable invites, labels and such that you can get online for free. I got this free candy wrapper online that you can also personalize. Although I forgot exactly where I got it, I think you can search for it via Google though.
It’s easy to edit and personalize according to your liking. I think I’m going to do this again with our dragon baby boy Juro.
Tip#4 MAKE USE OF WHAT’S ALREADY THERE.
Since we have a budget to follow, we made use of things that we already have. As for the prizes, I bought these cute girly lip balms even before December as gifts but wasn’t able to give them since I gave something away, so I used it as prizes for my baby shower instead.
Tip#5 DON’T BE SHY TO ASK HELP FROM FAMILY & FRIENDS.
My husband and I are not the type of people who would ask favors from family or friends not unless its really important. We don’t really want to be of inconvenience and hassle them. But sometimes, it pays to get help from friends. As for the program and hosting, I relied on my grade school friends. Everybody were entertained with the program that included a night of videoke.
Thank you Mhars & Pat for hosting and entertaining everyone!
Tip#6 MAKE A WISH LIST.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned it is not easy to think of a gift to give a soon-to-be mommy. With an overwhelming list of products to choose from, one can get stressed just by thinking about it. It’s safe to say that making a wish list of what you want can help family & friends decided on what to give you on your baby shower. I bet you’ll be doing them a favor if you let them know what you want. If you’re the family or friend, you know that the mommy-to-be would really appreciate the gifts you showered her and her baby.
Real friends know what you want without even telling them and they know who you are despite everything.
Hubby & I less than two weeks before my D-day with Gabbie.
More than the gifts you receive on your baby shower, what’s important is remembering this day as a way of preparing and welcoming the new addition to your family. The celebration and the thought that your family and friends are as excited and as happy as you are in welcoming your new bundle of joy is more than enough.
