I love hole-in-the-wall restaurants mainly because of how quaint, secluded and secretive they feel. Well up until it gets discovered by people through word of mouth. Discovering new places to dine and letting the foodie in me enjoy is something I love. Trying something new is always a good thing right?
It was my husband who introduced RUB Ribs & BBQ to me, I was intrigued mainly because my husband seldom recommends restaurants and the like unless he really likes the food. Sorry for the low quality photos, I used my iPad since I didn’t bring with me my G12 as it was bulky. Now I guess I have to carry it with me wherever I go so I can take decent photos.
Rub Ribs & BBQ in Quezon City.
It’s a two-story restaurant that can accommodate around 20-30 people. From the outside, it looks like the design was inspired from a barnyard which I find quirky.
The view from the outside. We were quite early for dinner but the seats upstairs were already full and we had to wait outside to be seated. While waiting, we decided to look at heir menu and pre-order.
Gabbie excited to eat!
Plus points for having a high chair despite being a small restaurant, they were big on customer service. For a restaurant to provide high chairs says how much they value kids as much as they value their adult customers. Good job!
When we transferred on the upper floor, I immediately took pictures of the framed photos visibly hanged on each side of the wall. Displaying pop icons and inspirational quotes.
Muhammad Ali will greet you before you head upstairs.
We ordered the Family Brunch at 685 php which consists a slab of Raki’s BBQ ribs + 3 side dishes which is good for 4 persons. Sides we chose were: grilled buttered corn, garlic spinach mushroom and spruce (spiced fried rice). You can opt to order additional sides for 65 php each: fresh potato fries, roasted garlic mashed potato, texas toast, bacon and potato salad, coleslaw, and buttered vegetables.
It was filling! It’s actually good enough for 4 persons (the husband, our Mama, Gabbie and I) since Gabbie only ate portion of the sprice (yep, she liked it despite it being tangy & a bit spicy) and corn (she almost ate half of the serving since it’s here favorite). You may want to order extra rice coz the ribs were definitely full of flavor!
I was intrigued with their Fried Oreos With Vanilla Ice Cream (150 php) so we ordered it.
Its the BOMB! I love it, I love it, I love it!
My husband who’s not even a sweet tooth agreed that it was a delicious dessert.
There’s also a variety of entrées, nibbles, soups, salads and sandwiches which I think I might try next time.
Open kitchen where you can see all the grilling and preparation happening.
THE VERDICT:
The Ambiance: 2.5 clovers
Limited seats and parking area (street parking) can hassle a customer but the quirky interiors somehow make up for it.
The Service: 3 clovers
The food was prepared efficiently and the staff were efficient and attentive to our needs. It would’ve been a better dinning experience if there’s a “call button” located on the second floor so it’s easier to call on to the staff.
The Food: 3.5 clovers
No doubt that their ribs is delicious and that their unique dessert was something to come back to Value for money wise, it’s not cheap nor expensive which can only mean that it’s just right.
Overall I’d go back to RUB Ribs & BBQ. It was definitely a new dining experience (well at least for me) and I’m quite excited to visit them again!
