What’s Your Statement?

You know how statement shirts have become popular over the years? It is what it is mainly because it is an expression of who we are and also a way to give strangers a hint of what we think.

There are also other forms of statement pieces and by statement pieces I mean those that have wordings that give a shout out to the world. Baller bands, bag tags and others that I can’t seem to name right now. Let’s also not forget the name plate necklace, popularized by Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker’s character in Sex And The City).

You know people would call you thinking you know them only to find out they saw your name plate necklace! LOL.

I once wanted one but I find it too obvious and out there, you know wearing your name? Maybe that’s just me and I might have a change of heart someday.

But since I really wanted something that I can wear to remind me of who I am or at least represent what I feel, off I went looking for exactly that and look at what I found.

I found these lovely cuffs at The Bead Shop in Rockwell. They also have branches in Shangri La mall, SM Megamall and in other malls. I was thinking of having one customized since they can do that but there’s a waiting time for at least four days and I just couldn’t wait so I got these instead.

I chose MOM and EXHALE. Well it’s pretty obvious why I picked MOM, because I am one and so far I love being one. I may not be the perfect mom but whenever I’m asked what’s keeping me occupied I always answer I’m busy being a mom. Although I could always say I blog, I work as a model and so on, it just seems more appropriate to answer otherwise. I identify myself as a mom, it may not have monetary rewards nor good compensations but the act of raising another human being is just priceless. It is something I’m proud of doing and it is something I’m learning a lot from too.

As for EXHALE, I wanted it because I needed to remind myself to breathe. Whenever I’m about to blow off steam due to a busy and tiring day doing all the errands plus the stress that comes with parenting and homemaking, I simply look at my EXHALE bracelet and just smile, breathe and let go.

You can even pile them up with different kinds of bracelets or cuffs (very much bohemian if I may say so) but if you want it to stand out you can just add it with your watch just like what I did.
