New Year always brings the promise of hope and a clean slate to start anew. Aside from starting my core commitment this year, I am also putting extra effort when it comes to my skin. I admit I’m beginning to become a skin care addict. I’m super eager and excited to try different skin care products and document the effect they have on my skin. Over the holidays I got to try two of Kiehl’s skin care products that encouraged me to participate in their Midnight Til Morn Challenge.
So for the past 28 days, I exclusively used Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Lightweight, readily-absorbed elixir effectively restores skin’s appearance overnight, resulting in smoother, more radiant complexion by morning. Enriched with Squalene, a botanical lipid similar in molecular structure to natural skin lipids, Evening Primrose Oil, rich in Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Essential Oil including Lavender. Kiehl’s formula provides a boost of essential moisture to depleted skin. These natural oils instantly penetrate the skin surface to help replenish it. Their recovery concentrate works at bight when skin is most receptive to repairing itself from daily aggressors.
Kiehl’s isn’t foreign to me as I love their Acai Damage Correcting Moisturizer. I searched everywhere for it and found the last few remaining stocks in Hong Kong. Iim sad that one of the products that really worked well on me is now discontinued, still I’m hopeful that being introduced to a new one will rekindle my love for the brand. I let the illustrations explain the ingredients and how Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate works but I’m gonna tell you how I was pretty impressed with it. Despite it being an oil serum, I like that it gives off a velvety feel. It isn’t as heavy as other oil-based products which really surprised me. I also like that a little goes a long way, it only takes about two to three drops to cover my entire face. Come the next morning after using it for the first time, I immediately felt how softer my skin feels. How can one application help my distressed & dry skin? Its like magic in a bottle.
Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense
The daily, ultra light formula intensely moisturises the skin and utilises efficacious levels of sun filters Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL to provide skin with broad-spectrum UVA & UVB sunscreen protection. This moisturising, oil-free and dual-protection lotion helps protect against the appearance of dark spots, freckles wrinkles and skin darkening, while also protecting against premature skin aging. Non-comodogenic and safe for sensitive skin.
I followed through and applied Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense the next morning. I wish it wasn’t as sticky as it feels and doesn’t look as white when I apply it on my fair, if not tan skin. Still, I felt that the whole experience to a more fresher, clear skin wouldn’t be complete without it. So I used it for 28 consecutive days along with Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Serum to achieve the Midnight Til Morn effect. What happened after the 28-day challenge? I’ll let the photos do the talking.
Here’s my #selfie taken two weeks into using Kiehl’s duo products. This was taken in Baguio where it was cooler than Manila. I couldn’t bring myself to take a photo without any eyebrows, eyeliner and a dab of lip color. Still, I noticed how my skin’s texture slowly improved as the dry patches started to even out.
Almost three weeks into using Kiehl’s duo products and here’s what my skin looks sans the make up. Save for the blemishes on my chin, which have greatly lightened over the period, I’m pretty much confident going bare faced.
My fourth week using Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate & Ultra Light Daily UV Defense and I can see a huge skin improvement. Clearer, softer and more glowing. I guess I’m gonna continue using it until the blemishes fade & my skin gets more hydrated than ever.
