Today’s Recipe: Sweet & Sour Fish

Sweet & sour sauce is one of my favorite base for any dish. Its quite easy to do and can be paired with breaded chicken, pork, meat balls or in this case fish.

Here’s wachunid:

1 medium sized onion (wedged), 3 cloves of garlic (minced), 1 tomato (optional), 1 carrot (julienned), 1 red bell pepper (julienned), 1 can pineapple tidbits.

Other ingredients not in the photo:  cooking oil (for frying the fish and for sautéing the sauce) a few thin slices of ginger, 3 tbsp. of brown sugar,  5 tbsp. of ketchup, 3 tbsp. vinegar and 1 tbsp. cornstarch. Let’s not forget the fish, the best one to pair this with is tilapia.

Step 1: Clean the fish first then fry and set aside.

Step 2: Sauté garlic & onion

Add pineapple (include the juice), carrots, tomato, sugar, vinegar and ketchup.

I actually tried adding 2 tbsp. of soy sauce instead of seasoning it with salt. Add cornstarch.

Step 3: Simmer for 5-8 minutes.

Pour the sweet & sour sauce over the fish.

Viola! Another easy to cook dish! :)
